POLICE were called to reports of a man seen with a knife near a school in Castlefield this afternoon.

They are treating it as a “suspicious incident”, and do not believe any risk is now posed to the public.

Officers were called at 1.32pm to reports of a man with a knife in woodland behind Castlefield School in Middle Way.

They attended the school and the area was thoroughly searched, with the assistance of the police helicopter, but the man was not located. Sgt Ashley Rattray, of High Wycombe police station, said: “We carried out a full search of the area and children were kept inside the school as a precaution.

“We are treating this as a suspicious incident, but do not believe there is any risk to public safety, but we would advise people to be vigilant and report any further suspicious activity to police.”
