A 29-YEAR-OLD man has today been arrested by police after a woman who got into a private hire vehicle in High Wycombe was raped.
The woman, aged 25, got into the vehicle in Frogmoor at around 2am on Saturday 22 after a night out in High Wycombe. She was then driven to an unknown location and raped. Police were alerted to the attack when the victim arrived home at 3.10am and a relative called the emergency services.
Thames Valley Police say they have made an arrest today.
Det Ch Insp Rebecca Mears said: “This was a very serious and concerning incident and in response we have had a team of detectives working on the inquiry from the outset.
“We are providing full support to the victim, who attended a specialist Sexual Assault Referral Centre yesterday, where she was looked after by trained professionals.
“The investigation is ongoing but we made an arrest yesterday afternoon and a man is currently in custody being interviewed in connection with this offence.”
