A 24-YEAR-old has been charged in connection with an assault in Chesham where a man was stabbed in the face.

Mohammed Butt, 24, of Acacia Close in Chesham, has been charged with possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and GBH with intent.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Aylesbury Magistrates Court today.

Shortly before 12pm yesterday officers were called to Deansway, Chesham, to reports that a 29-year-old man was stabbed in the cheek.

He was taken to Stoke Mandeville hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and GBH with intent. He has been bailed until February 12.

Investigating officer Det Sgt Kerry Bradfield said: "We want to reassure the community that this is an extremely rare type of incident in this area.

"We urge anyone with information about the incident to get in touch."
