Snow will fall on Saturday in the Chilterns, says forecaster Snow will fall on Saturday in the Chilterns, says forecaster

IT will be a cold weekend with snow falling on Saturday, a Bucks forecaster said.

Jim Dale, of Hazlemere's British Weather Services, said there could be mixture of rain and snow on Saturday throughout the day.

But he said: "First of all it is still unclear in the long term whether we are in for a short spell of wintery weather or a protracted one.

"The jury is very much out in terms of how long it might last."

Mr Dale said it will definitely be a frosty weekend with temperatures -1 to -3 across the area.

He said: "There will be a rain/ sleet/ snow recipe set for Saturday day time. "Snow will be more likely the higher you are in the Chilterns."

He said rain will be coming across from the South West which will then hit the cold air in South Bucks. He said there could be outbreaks of snow all day long but it could be a mixture of snow and rain throughout the day.

Mr Dale said there could be between one and four centimetres of snow.

He said rugby and football matches on Sunday morning are going to struggle because of the freezing temperatures but said Sunday will be a dry day.

And he said residents should put in a little bit of preparation and grit footpaths and make sure the essentials are in their car eg. blankets.

He emphasised it is a forecast not an actual because it is too early to say on Thursday morning.

Some weather will occur on Saturday? how extrordinary. Not only that but looking out the window I can see some happening right now. Does life get anymore exciting here in Bucks?

I am! I do love a picture of a duck pond. Far more interesting than the "forecast not an actual". Do you think we might get "an actual" on Saturday?

Actually , I think that is probable (possibly). There again ....
.
What's needed is a more positive (?) forecaster like Michael Fish who we can all blame when the forecast turns out to be incorrect
.
I will get back to you on that and other assorted things.
.
PS - Is that photo really of a Lane End duck pond ? The aspect seems too flat for LE. Coleshill ? The flat bit on the Chiltern Way opposite the Red Lion with fishermen on the far bank ?

I was excited at the prospect of reading all the comments - miles better than 'ivor'.

Mr Dale thank you - though you are bit of a glutton for punishment.

I realise this is a bit off-topic but on ivor's blog you mention the photo there and I thought you might be interested to know that there is a sneaky way of getting ivor's photos of drains, flyovers, boarded-up shops et cetera for nothing - if you right click on the photo and press 'copy image' then open 'Paint' and press 'paste' you can reproduce the photo and print it on a printer. For a few pounds you can have it framed and then - with an 'ivor' photo in a prominent place at home friends and neighbours will think you are cool and sophisticated and you will have the satisfaction of a beautiful image nearby all the time which is also a constant reminder of 'Mr Wycombe'.

(A clever idea or what?)
