A TOWN councillor said he is "embarrassed" by the amount of dog mess in Princes Risborough.

Cllr Will Streule said at Princes Risborough Town Council on Tuesday night: "The state of dog fouling in the town is embarrassing.

"As a responsible dog owner it is embarrassing."

Cllr Alan Turner said it is a "huge problem" all over the town.

A letter to the town council asked for help as there was a recurring problem with dog mess in the street where they live.

John Coombs suggested speaking to the author of the letter to ask her if she would like the council to apply to Wycombe District Council for a dog fouling bin in the street.

He also said they could lend their mobile CCTV equipment to the lady as she requested, but that the rules would need to be explained to her and a sign would have to put up to say CCTV was in operation.

He also said they could lend the hard drive to the lady but not the monitor.

Cllr Turner said they must also point out to the lady a CCTV image would not give them a name.

Cllr Coombs added that if the CCTV image is easily identifiable it can be reported to the dog warden.

If people fail to clean up after their dog they can be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice, or if the case goes to court with a fine of up to £1,000.
