Council paying twice to remove unauthorised road signs

High Heavens High Heavens

MYSTERY surrounded the removal of road side signs in Princes Risborough which were advertising events in the area but kept being found at a High Wycombe dump.

Buckinghamshire County Council pays Princes Risborough Town Council under devolved services to remove signs at the side of the road they have not agreed on.

But at the town council meeting on Tuesday night Cllr Alan Turner said they use their local knowledge and common sense to decide whether to remove signs.

Last summer when the Monks Risborough Horticultural Show signs went missing- the town council got the blame, although they knew nothing about it.

The signs were later found at the High Heavens dump although further investigations could not discover who removed the signs.

When further signs began going missing this year it was then discovered that the county Highway Contractors had been taking down roadside signs under a blanket instruction from the county council to remove all unauthorised signs.

The town council now has to write a letter to confirm it will remove the signs as agreed under devolved services.

What?

Can't Bucks CC just stop doing what it pays PR Council to do?
