Richard Owen's Bluesmobile stolen from Beaconsfield

The replica Bluesmobile

Richard in character as Elwood Blues

WEDDING singer Richard Owen is appealing for help to recover his stolen motor - described as a '30-foot long police car with a huge horn on top'.

His very own Bluesmobile, a replica of the car used in The Blues Brothers film, was used for a party at Beaconsfield SYCOB Football Club on December 29, but had disappeared when Richard went to collect it two days later.

Hiring out the 1974 Dodge Monaco is Richard’s main source of income, so he is desperate to get it back.

The 32-year-old told the BFP: "We hire it out for things like weddings and birthdays but we are having to turn away work at the moment.

"I’m the only one in the UK with that car and I’m just hoping it will be found. It’s worth about £10,000, but it’s such a rare car you can’t just go out and get another one.

"It’s a huge 30-foot long police car with a big horn on the top, and has my number and business name ‘Bluesmobile Hire’ on the back so hopefully someone will see it. It’s also been signed by the band from the film."

The original Bluesmobile is best remembered for the crazy chase scene through a Chicago shopping mall in the 1980 movie (see video below).

Richard, who lives in Potters Bar, bought his replica seven years ago after noticing a post on a fans’ website.

Initially he would just rent it out, but about a year ago a Blues Brothers tribute act needed an ‘Elwood’ - played by Dan Aykroyd in the film - and asked him to step in (see picture above).

Police are investigating the theft and spokesman Rebecca Webber appealed for anyone with any information to contact PC Andrew Harper via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 101.

Richard said he had intended to pick the car up from outside the football ground the day after the party, but was feeling ill and had to go the next day.

He says it was seen by someone during the day on December 30, so thinks it was taken in the evening. The football club is at Holloways Park on Slough Lane, just off junction 2 of the M40.

Sorry Richard Owen, this is so funny! How on earth could someone have the gall to take it! I really hope you get it back in one piece!
