EARLIER opening times and cheaper entry fees have been unveiled at Chesham's open air swimming pool.

Monthly fees at the Chesham Moor Gym and Swim have been reduced to £25 - and after public demand it will now be open all year round, instead of only welcoming swimmers from May onwards.

Those keen on an early morning dip can also take advantage of the new 6am opening time, with the centre's management team saying the changes have been made to take account of peoples’ busy lives and ambitions to lose weight and stay fit.

Manager Danny Essex said: "Before you start thinking we’re mad having a heated outdoor pool open through the winter, remember the average pool temperature is a balmy 22°C (73°F) which is warmer than the sea in the summer.

"With a £25 monthly membership including unlimited gym, swim and tennis, plus no-contract or joining fee, there’s no better time to get fit after Christmas. We encourage everyone to come along and try out our facilities."

The facility, which is operated by Chesham Town Council, is one of the only UK heated swimming pools to be virtually chemical free and the new opening times are in response to overwhelming demand for it to be open throughout the year.

Management have also set up a one minute survey about the changes on their website, which gives entrants the chance to win a full year's free membership.

To take part in the survey, and for full details on the timetable changes, go to www.cheshammoorfitness.org.uk. Entry for the survey closes at 5pm on Friday January 25.
