EXPANSION plans for a Wooburn Common pub have finally been approved by a council at the sixth time of asking.

The Chequers Inn on Kiln Lane is set build 11 new letting rooms after Wycombe District Council approved its latest planning application. Five previous plans dating back to 1986 had been rejected.

Nicholas Roehrig’s family has owned the pub since 1975 and its restaurant was awarded two AA stars last year.

He said: “Despite current economic pressures we want to continue to expand.

"The Chequers has grown steadily over the last thirty-five years and in order to develop our hotel business we need to provide additional rooms - and at the same time this opportunity will result in new local jobs being created.

“The new building will take place in the next three years at an anticipated investment of £650k with the project including landscaping of the surrounding garden areas and additional parking.”

The Chequers currently has 17 bedrooms, from £85 per night.
