THE husband of a former parish clerk, who was found guilty this week of transferring money from a village council's bank account to her own, has thanked family and friends for their support.
Lynne Turner, 50, of Tancred Road, High Wycombe was found guilty of ten counts of fraud by abuse of position amounting to £28,200.
The jury at Oxford Crown Court heard Turner had transferred money from Hughenden Parish Council accounts, where she was clerk, to her own bank account in 31 transactions.
Her husband Paul Turner said today: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank family and friends for their immense support and would ask that my family's privacy be respected at this time."
Cllr Turner is a Wycombe District Councillor and a cabinet spokesman for finance.
Turner told police that her husband "wouldn't have a clue" about their finances.
Catherine Spalton, spokesman for WDC, said: "The case does not affect his position as a district councillor and is a private matter for Cllr Turner and his family."
Cllr Turner is a cabinet spokesman, which is an advisory role and does not have any decision making authority.
