'Super hospital' gets mixed reaction at Wycombe meeting

AN MP’s plans for a regional ‘super hospital’ received a mixed reaction in High Wycombe this evening.

Dr Phillip Lee, MP for Bracknell, held a public meeting at The Hub in Easton Street to present his radical proposals for a new hospital at Junction 8/9 of the M4.

About 25 people attended, including health officials, politicians and members of the public. Some showed interest in the plans, but others insisted that specialist services such as A&E should be restored to Wycombe Hospital instead.

Full story tomorrow. See related links for background.

I wish that I could have gone - but seriously...what would the point have been?

This is a plan put forward that would benefit more the people of Maidenhead, Windsor and Bracknell. The Bucks NHS Trust is fighting it and the common sense approach to this would be for Wycombe to get its A&E back (plus other services). The longer that this 'discussion' goes on - the more likely that more of us in Wycombe are going to suffer.
It’s ironic that it’s money from ‘our pockets’ that pays for these services however we get ‘told’ what is good for us and what isn’t.
I do not believe in democracy in the UK anymore, not at a national level anyhow.

Wycombe hospital is too old and decaying, has outgrown it's use and would cost too much to put right. The alternatives are Stoke (too far away) or Wexham (has it's own catchment area). A super hospital makes perfect sense.
As not believing in democracy anymore, this is coming from a failed tory councillor.

A Super Hospital sounds like something you'd find in the USA, whose primary objective is to make money, not to serve the public.

A friend of mine went to Stoke and found it mad in there! A super hospital is not the way forward, for me and for the 77,178 people who live in or around Wycombe. When you are in serious pain or in any type of suffering you want to be treated fast not have to worry about the drive! There are alot of people who don't have cars, if they are not ill enough to go in a ambulance they would have to take a taxi which is expensive when you are going those distances. Please some one open there eyes! We pay for this so we should have a decision on where its spent!
