Town Hall weddings to continue in Chesham

COUPLES can still tie the knot at Chesham Town Hall after councillors opted to renew its marriage licence.

Members of Chesham Town Council had previously considered not renewing the venue's licence because they were struggling to break even after a decrease in the number of people wanting to get married there.

But councillors have agreed to extend the licence for a further three years when the current one expires on January 1 2014.

The council will aim to increase bookings by using the free advice of a marketing company.

However the council will not apply for a permanent alcohol licence for the Town Hall, although people wishing to use the venue can apply for a temporary licence to sell booze on the premises.
