Businessman fined £2k after shop front dumped in Stokenchurch
A SHOP front dumped in Stokenchurch with other rubbish was traced back to a business in Hillingdon.
Martin Moran, 43, of Tudor Way, North Hillingdon said he had paid a 'man with a van' to remove rubbish when he refurbished his business.
But the rubbish was then found illegally flytipped in woodland off Ibstone Road, Stokenchurch on November 17, 2011.
There was a shop front in the rubbish which was traced to Sutton Court Road, Hillingdon, a business owned by Mr Moran.
He pleaded guilty at Uxbridge Magistrates Court on January 22, to an offence of failing in his duty of care regarding the illegal dumping of the waste and ordered to pay a fine of £2,168.
During interview, Mr Moran admitted that he had carried out refurbishment work at the shop, and paid a ‘man with a van’ £200 to remove the waste.
He was able to provide investigators with details of the vehicle that removed the waste, however further investigation did not provide enough evidence to prove who was responsible for dumping the waste.
He admitted he had failed to check the carrier was authorised to remove the waste from his premises, and that he did not do enough to prevent the waste from being illegally dumped.
If a person sees anyone dumping waste illegally in Buckinghamshire, they can report it on the illegal dumping reporting hotline on 0845 330 1856.
