Naphill Post Office relocation causes parking problems

CONCERNS have been raised about parking at the new Post Office location in Naphill.

The Post Office moved from 81, Main Road to Costcutter at 19, Main Road at the start of February.

But some residents around the shop said it has caused parking problems and have asked for double yellow lines.

At Hughenden Parish Council's meeting on Tuesday night it was decided to ask residents if they would like yellow lines, and if so to apply for funding from the Local Area Forum.

It'll make no difference as everyone will ignore the yellow lines and who will enforce them in any case? There was a problem before when it was just an off-licence/grocers. Adding to the problem now will be the folk using the PO during the day.

What difference will double yellow lines make? Go around Wycombe town centre for a bit and you'll see what I mean, double yellow lines obscured by parked cars, noticably Bridge Street, Desborough Rd and Corporation St. The amount of money WDC or BCC could save not buying yellow paint!!

Parking enforcement is a joke everywhere except Wycombe centre.

Prestwood is a fine example, where everyone parks on the double yellow lines, and pedestrian crossing zig-zags, outside the Co-op, even though there is a free car park less than 20 metres away.

The Police do nothing about it because they are no longer responsible for enforcement (they just drive past in their patrol cars), and you never see a parking enforcement officer because they just stay in the major towns.

Surely there needs to be a thought through solution rather than just painting yellow lines. If people need to use the post office, they need to park somewhere - if you just paint yellow lines without thinking through where people can park, there is risk that you just move the problem elsewhere.

Simple! Do you want a Post Office? If yes, put up with the parking which honestly, isn't very much different from how it has always been. You get cars parked outside all the shops in the area. The parking outside the Co-op and the garage is infinitely more dangerous not to mention the parking along the Main Road at home time from the school. Yellow lines will make absolutely no difference.

Great photo to illustrate the point BFP, not a single car outside the shop! Well done!
