A HOTEL group wants to build 32 serviced apartments in High Wycombe.

The proposed site is on the corner of Desborough Park Road and West Wycombe Road, and the scheme would involve the demolition of 193 – 197 West Wycombe Road. 

Buckingham Hotel Group, which is based on West Wycombe Road and also runs the Wendover Arms, has submitted the plans to Wycombe District Council.

The site already has planning permission for a 16-bed multiple occupancy house, but this project has not gone ahead.

Serviced apartments usually have cooking facilities, are available for short or long-term stays and can be less expensive than equivalent hotel rooms.

The following planning applications have been submitted to south Buckinghamshire councils. More detail on each application is available on the relevant council website.

Wycombe District Council:

193 - 197 West Wycombe Road High Wycombe Buckinghamshire HP12 3AW - Outline application ( including details of access, landscaping and layout) for the demolition of existing building at 193-197 West Wycombe Road and erection of new building comprising 32 serviced apartments, closure of existing access points on West Wycombe Road and alterations to existing access on Desborough Park Road.

It does sound like an over intensive use of the site. 32 flats where 3 houses now stand - over 10 flats on each plot on average. Some "urban living" standards would not go amiss here.

serviced apartments have less floor space - I stayed in one in London- it w as for 2 people. total floor space about 500sq foot - perfectly adequate for 2 people for a week- better than a hotel
