PLANS to transform Beaconsfield Town Hall into a cafe have been scrapped after more than a year of discussions, a meeting heard.
Bucks businessman Mike Clare, founder of bed company Dreams, made a shock offer to revive the run down building in 2011, before entering into discussions with owners South Bucks District Council.
But Philip Bastiman, chairman of resources at Beaconsfield Town Council, told his colleagues on Thursday: "Mike Clare has been in discussions with South Bucks and basically hasn’t been able to come to an agreement.
"I’m now proposing that we kick off a review of what we do with the town hall."
Councillors have been trying to find ways to make better use of the town hall for several years.
Mr Clare was not available for comment.
