MORE Blockbuster staff in south Bucks are facing redundancy.

The administrators for the doomed film rental firm have confirmed the Beaconsfield store is also on the list to be axed.

Earlier this week, it was revealed Marlow's West Street shop would shut.

However, Hazlemere is not on the list, said Smithfield, which is dealing with the public relations since the company went into administration.

There are about five staff on average per store, the BFP was told, though it has not been able to provide precise figures for each store.

These workers will be made redundant.

The news comes in the same week as it was announced that more workers would lose their jobs at another stricken retailer - HMV.

High Wycombe's store is closing as part of the administration process.

Staff at Marlow's Blockbuster store told the BFP they were prohibited from talking directly to the media and referred questions to head office.

Lee Manning, Joint Administrator, said: "We have continued to review the performance of individual stores since our appointment a month ago and have concluded that further closures are necessary in order to restructure the company for sale.

"We would like to thank the company’s employees for their support and professionalism during this difficult time and we are also grateful for the continued support of customers. We are in discussions with a number of parties interested in purchasing all or parts of the business and will update on progress in due course."

All closing stores will remain open for business as usual and customers will be notified in advance of closure so that they can return their outstanding rental items beforehand. The standard rental terms and conditions remain in place.
