Couple opens second gift shop in same street in Beaconsfield
10:57am Friday 22nd February 2013 in News By Lawrence Dunhill
HIGH street chains seem to be dropping like flies at the moment, but a gift shop in Beaconsfield has defied the doom and gloom by opening a second store... in the same street.
Mike and Sheena Adams have made the bizarre move after struggling to find bigger premises for their shop Temptation - which has been serving New Town shoppers for 25 years.
The new shop is just seven doors up from the other on Station Road and the Amersham couple, both 59, have split the stock between the two, with one for gifts and the other for specialist cards.
The couple now have seven shops across four counties and Mike said: “Our other stores were significantly larger than our Beaconsfield shop, and that meant we had to compromise in Beaconsfield over what ranges we had space to carry, and the shop became a little cramped.
“We have been looking for larger premises for a while, without success. Now though, we have doubled the size of Temptation in Beaconsfield, with a bit of out-of-the-box thinking....this isn’t our attempt to become Starbucks.”
As well as cards, the stock includes things like party ware, candles, designer jewellery, French toiletries and baby clothes.

Good luck to them. It's good to hear stories like this in such a difficult climate. I'm just starting up a business myself, and it heartens me to hear others doing so well.
