London Road to shut for repairs

London Road to shut for repairs London Road to shut for repairs

THE London Road is set to shut for road works next week.

From Monday sections of the road will be closed between 7pm and 6am on weekday nights and information signs will be put up before work starts on each section, giving the actual dates and durations.

The maintenance, to improve the condition of the High Wycombe road and prolong its life, is part of Transport for Buckinghamshire's ‘We’re Working On It’ programme.

The work will include refreshing the bus lane markings and some signage.

The sections are:

  • Rayners Avenue to Knaves Beech Way, High Wycombe
  • Micklefield Road to Hammersley Lane, High Wycombe
  • Hatters Lane to Micklefield Road, High Wycombe
  • Gordon Road to Hatters Lane, Loudwater
  • A4155/A404 Westhorpe Interchange

Work will be done at night to minimise large scale disruption during the day.

Officials said working at night is also more cost effective as more work can be done during a shorter time period.

However, owing to the location of the works, the diversion route is unfortunately quite considerable, officers added.

Further information about this work can be found on TfB's Service Information Centre at http://www.buckscc.gov.uk/transport

Lets hope it includes resurfacing and some deeper works needed around the Abbey Barn Road traffic lights...

Perhaps we will have a coloured bus lane so it will be in opperation 24/7. That will mess everything up.

I hope they are going to remove the bus lane at the traffic lights at Micklefield Road West bound. I have never seen a bus use them. They are redundant.

Gordon Road to Hatters Lane, Loudwater....
Since when has Hatters Lane been in Loudwater?

And A4155/A404 Westhorpe Interchange...
I didn't realise that London Road went that far...

Good use of a photo of a bus in the bus lane on London Road
Shame it's not a section of the road included in the repairs....

i wonder is it poor info supplied by TfB or poor proof reading/reporting by the BFP...

Need more TLC I think...

I wonder when the bus companies will tell us of their diversionary plans or have they not been told

While they're at it, there are a couple of road junctions and roundabouts without traffic lights on the London Road.
Maybe , when the road is closed, they could do away with these roundabouts and put traffic lights up.

You know it makes sense...............

Dad, a bus driver says that he only gets told about the diversions as he is driving out of the bus station so there isn't much hope for you lot.

I hope your comment was tongue in cheek....the last thing this town needs is anymore traffic lights !! I am fed up with the road planners (sorry I meant clueless buffoons ) who decided that us road users cannot handle roundabouts and instead must have traffic lights as we are obviously so stupid that when confronted by a roundabout, we lose the ability to work out how to navigate it. Why dont we just threw in some speed bumps at the traffic lights just for good measures.

The traffic chaos on Friday Night 08/03/2013 was unbelievable. In order to get into my road I had to park my car in the middle of the London Road and get a workman to remove a barrier. Every access road to the London Road at Micklefield and Loudwater was closed. I wish they would get their act together.
