Chiltern District Council agree tax increase Chiltern District Council agree tax increase

AN INCREASE in council tax for Chiltern residents was officially confirmed this evening.

Members of Chiltern District Council voted in favour of a 1.9 per cent increase in the amount of tax residents will pay the authority each year - equivilent to an additional £3.03 for an average Band D property.

The council's cabinet had recommended the increase earlier this month after saying extra cash would be needed for future financial years.

A total of 20 members voted in favour of the increase, six opposed it and there were four abstentions.

For once I agree with Eric Pickles - they are gutless in not going to the full 2% and going to taxpayers for approval.

Have just read that council big wigs refused to take a pay cut, YET--- they are putting up rent and council tax, and most will suffer because of this unjust equality.
One rule for for the high paid council officials and **** the rest of us.
