Concerns raised over potential sports centre access in Princes Risborough

CONCERNS have been raised about potential access issues to a new sports centre in Princes Risborough.

Plans have been submitted to build a new community sports centre at Princes Risborough School.

They said the facility will offer a range of sporting and recreational activities to the community as well as being used by more than 1,000 pupils as part of their curriculum.

Councillors at The Princes Risborough Town Council on Tuesday night said they liked the idea but were concerned about proposed access via New Road.

Cllr Bill Bendyshe-Brown said: "They (New Road residents) don't want boy racers driving up there creating lots of noise."

Cllr Dennis Green added: "I think there should be opposition to this proposal if they open the gates to New Road from the Upper Icknield Way."

The council voted they were formally in favour of the new sports centre but access had to be addressed.

So a Sports Centre is only used by boy racers is it??

The town council might be concerned about access via New Road for the sports hall but they don't have any concern about building a community civic centre at wades park that many people don't want.

What a poor piece of reporting by the Bucks Free Press! Let's look at what actually happened at the Council meeting. The Council voted overwhelmingly in favour of the proposal which will bring a fantastic new recreational facility to the town and significantly enhance the teaching if PE at the brilliant local school. A couple of nimby residents don't like the fact that access will come near their houses and so bring up a unsubstantiated concern over boy racers. The polite council orbs acknowledge this concern and then vote in favour supporting the vast majority of local residents and community members who attended previous meetings at the school to support the venture. BBB is a leading advocate of the scheme but is partially quoted only in response to the negative comment. The school are not asked for a view and none of the council ours who voted in favour are asked to say why. SHODDY JOURNALISM - simply looking to create a negative story out of a positive proposal. I would have hoped for better from Rebecca Cain.
