A 22-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH after a fight in a Chesham alleyway in the early hours of this morning.

Police said the arrested man is known to the alleged victim, a 25-year-old man who was left with a serious injury to his lip.

Officers investigating the incident, which took place in an alleyway off Shelley Road at 12.30am, have today made an appeal for witnesses.

Det Sgt Simon Johnson, investigating the incident, said: “We believe there were some people in Shelley Road who may have witnessed or heard the incident who have not yet come forward to speak to police. I would urge them to contact police as they may have information vital to the investigation.

“I would like to reassure local residents that incidents of this nature are rare in Chesham, and that the offender and the victim were known to each other. This was an isolated incident and not a stranger assault.”

Anyone with any information should contact Det Sgt Johnson via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 101 or the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
