Long queues for M40 drivers

DRIVERS coming into Bucks on the M40 today have faced long queues after an accident.

There have been lengthy delays from around the Swakeleys roundabout in Uxbridge through to Junction 1a, the M25 turn off.

A Highways Agency vehicle was on scene with a black car, which appeared to have a smashed front bumper but there were no other vehicles alongside.

Congestion had begun to ease in the last twenty minutes as the car was moved onto the hard shoulder.

The junction is still called "Swakeleys Roundabout" on the road signs, even though the humble roundabout itself was replaced by a flyover many years ago.
