COUNTY council leader Martin Tett said this week he's prepared to take the fight against HS2 all the way to the European Court.

Cllr Tett is also chairman of the 51m protest group, which is comprised of members of each local authority the route of the line is set to cut through.

He said at an HS2 rally in Aylesbury on Tuesday campaigners are already preparing themselves for an appeal should Judicial Reviews into the project's plans not find in their favour.

And he vowed: "We will fight this all the way, if necessary, to the European Court. This campaign certainly has a long way to go.

"We are a strong unit, a more purposeful unit, than we were two years ago."

Cllr Tett also took a swipe at how long it was taking for the judgement of five Judicial Reviews into the case to be announced at the High Court.

He said: "It's rather strange, if not bizarre, we are in March and a Judicial Review held in December - when they told us the results would be known no later than the end of January - still has no outcome."
