Hundreds face blackout as power line comes down Hundreds face blackout as power line comes down

A SERIES of power cuts left hundreds of residents in the dark this week after an overhead line came down near Little Marlow.

Around 350 people in the Well End, Horton Wood and Little Marlow areas faced the initial blackout on Monday from around 8.30pm.

A Southern Electric spokesman said engineers were sent to the area, and that the majority of houses had power restored by 9.30 that evening using a power re-routing process.

For the remaining residents directly affected, mobile generators were brought in to supply electricity until the line could be repaired.

Emma Shaw of Coldmoorholme Lane, Well End, said after the initial outage, the lights went out again on Tuesday.

“We were having dinner around 7:15 and heard a bang. A few moments later the electric went again. It was a distant bang but still distinctive.

“Southern Electric told us that a power line had come down, and it was reconnected at 10.30.”

Southern Electric confirmed the second power cut occured while homes were reconnected to the main system following the repairs.

A spokesman said it is not yet known what caused the line to fail but that an investigation is underway.
