A GERRARDS CROSS gift shop is in with a shot of winning a major national award.

The owners of Bohemian Days have made the final five for the Independent Gift Retailer of the Year prize at the Greats National Gift Awards.

And managers Tamsin and Jeanette Salisbury are now looking forward to the glitzy ceremony at the Savoy Hotel in London on May 9, where the winner will be announced.

Tamsin said: "We are thrilled to have reached the finals! It was such a lovely surprise and we are really looking forward to the award ceremony.

"With so many beautiful shops in this part of the country we are really honoured that we were selected for the final."

Competing shops have to be nominated by a supplier to be in with a chance of winning.

Bohemian Days is a family affair, established by Jeanette in 1996 with help from her husband Ian, with daughter Tamsin becoming co-manager in 2011.

The shop offers an array of quirky gifts and tasteful home accessories as well as furniture including one off and vintage items.

And its loyal customer base sees people returning to the store from all over the country.

Jeanette and Tamsin put a great deal of time and effort into both the buying process and the design and arrangement of goods.

"We learn a lot from getting feedback from customers," said Tamsin.

"By trying to keep one step ahead of the fashion we can expand on certain trends and styles. The shop changes with the seasons."

The shop can be found tucked away down Oak End Lane off the high street. For details of the store, visit www.bohemiandays.com
