THERE will be a vigil outside High Wycombe Police Station on Wednesday to mark the fifth anniversary of the death of Habib Ullah.

The 39-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest after being restrained by police officers on July 3, 2008.

The Justice for Habib ‘Paps’ Ullah campaign, which was set up in July 2008, is holding the vigil on July 3 from 5 to 7.30pm.

An inquest started in December 2010 and heard how police officers had tried to force a package of drugs out of his mouth during a stop-and-search but preceedings were abandoned after the coroner was told officers had been advised to alter parts of their statements by a solicitor.

This prompted the IPCC to reopen its investigation, which is still ongoing. Meanwhile, BBC’s Panorama also raised concerns about the IPCC’s handling of the case in November last year.

Habib's sister, Samah Raja, said: "We will not stop fighting to get justice for him. "Only the family knows the pain and trauma we go through every day of missing Habib and we are determined and have faith and will not stop fighting."

She said the inquest in 2010 had been "heartbreaking", and added: "We are having continuous meetings and updates from the IPCC and CPS and a thorough investigation is now taking place as the initial investigation had many flaws.

"Thank you to all our friends and families standing by our side and supporting us. We promise we will not give up until justice has been served."
