High Wycombe man jailed for dangerous driving
A 22-YEAR-old man has been jailed for dangerous driving which caused a serious collision in High Wycombe.
Naveed Akhtar, 22, of Rutland Avenue, High Wycombe, was sentenced to 12 months in prison at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday.
He was also disqualified from driving for two years with an extended re-test requirement.
Following a trial, Akhtar was found guilty by a jury of one count of dangerous driving and one count of driving without insurance.
At 1.50am on 13 December, 2012 there was a serious road traffic collision at the junction of Desborough Avenue with Desborough Road.
The court heard Akhtar was driving a Volkswagen Passat at high speed and collided with another vehicle.
PC Andrew Wayland of the Force’s Roads Policing Unit said: "I welcome the sentence imposed upon Akhtar, who was found guilty of dangerous driving.
"This case serves as a reminder to all motorists that extra care and vigilance needs to be taken on the roads at all times."
Akhtar was also ordered to pay a £100 victim surcharge.
