Successful return for Beaconsfield rock school
THE SECOND instalment of Beaconsfield’s very own school of rock culminated in a gig from its students for family and friends last week.
The David Jones Rock School returned for the summer holidays, giving 21 musical youngsters aged from 10 to 17 the chance to form bands, work on their instruments and write songs.
And after five days of honing their skills, a packed audience at the Beaconsfield School arrived to watch their hard work pay off in a series of live performances from the four new bands.
Mr Jones, a former Beaconsfield School student, will return at October half term to run the course for a third time.
And with music graduate’s venture growing in popularity, he hopes to operate the rock school each week during subsequent school holidays.
He said: "We had more people signed up this time, it’s getting bigger and better and I’m looking forward to expanding the course.
"Everyone got on so well and made new friends and I was really pleased with how all the kids progressed on their instruments over the course of the week."
