Fun in the sun at Beaconsfield holiday sports days
BEACONSFIELD basked in the sun last week for a double-header of school holiday sports events.
South Bucks District Council’s ‘Be Inspired’ day took place at The Beacon Sports Centre and theatre on Wednesday, drawing on the inspiration of last summer’s Olympics.
Visitors had the opportunity to try out a variety of sports and to compete to shoot the most hoops on court and beat the goalie in a penalty kick contest.
And the sports continued on Thursday when the council-run ‘Games in the Park’ fun day arrived at Holtspur Recreation Ground as part of its summer tour.
Youngsters at the free event took part in basketball, football, cricket, hockey, tennis and volleyball during the day-long free event.
And those with a more creative touch were able to try their hand at a range of arts and crafts activities.
Cllr Anita Cranmer, SBDC’s portfolio holder for community said: "As a host authority for the London 2012 Games, it is clear to see the spirit of the games has left a positive impact on the young people of South Bucks.
"Games in the Park is a brilliant opportunity to take part in free sport and arts activities right on your doorstep."
The Games in the Park returns to Beaconsfield on Tueday, 27 August after stopping off at recreation grounds throughout the district during its month-long tour.
