Team pulls 50 tonne train for charity
A DETERMINED team from the RAF High Wycombe Information Support Wing has pulled a 50-tonne train 500 metres for charity.
The team took on the challenge to raise money for Fraja Ellie, the young daughter of Flight Sergeant Bob Simpson, who has been diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer which requires expensive treatment abroad.
The fundraising event took place at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre near Quainton, where the team personalised a Thomas the Tank engine train by replacing Thomas’s face with a smiling picture of Freja Ellie.
SAC Jonathon Lewis, who took part in the pull, said training sessions had been difficult but the team had remained optimistic throughout their preparations.
The team were given a crash course in effective pulling on the day of their challenge.
A large audience was present to watch them cross the finishing line, including Fraja’s aunt and uncle and numerous family and friends.
