Graffiti increases in Hazlemere
GRAFFITI tags have been cropping up around the Hazlemere area, with police now appealing for witnesses.
Public and private property has been tagged with DOPE, ZETEC and TDC in the area surrounding the Kingswood Estate and Amersham Road.
PC James Fergusson said: "Unfortunately, some individuals have taken it upon themselves to deface property in and around the Amersham Road area, which has significantly decreased the visual appeal of the area.
"These offences have been increasing in number since the end of July, and we believe the offenders will be of school age, living locally to the offence location."
Wycombe District Councillor Alex Slater has been removing some of the tags with a graffiti cleaning kit from the council.
Some of the bus stops have also been painted, including a mural on one in Rose Avenue.
Cllr Slater said: "I think it is modern art. The little kids are only leaving their little marks.
"I don't agree with them when they do nasty words because it is offensive.
"It is quite wrong to do it on someone else's private property."
If you have any information regarding this offence, call police on 101 or by calling Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
