Santa comes early for Rotary relay
SANTA Claus made an early visit to Wycombe last week to help out Rotary Club members in their bid to complete a Thames Valley-wide charity baton relay.
The ‘Around the District in 80 Ways’ challenge sees the six Rotary Clubs in the M40 corridor between Jordans & Haddenham using a variety of different means of transport to travel the area.
Members hope to raise £3000 to buy a new sports wheelchair for a disabled athlete through Olympic legacy project Wheelpower,.
Mr Claus was joined by Humphrey Creed, president of the Wycombe Rotary, who have decided to focus their leg on the magical reindeer-propelled craft.
Mr Creed received the baton last Wednesday from the Jordans & Haddenham club, who opted for a cattle-truck, a white van, a children’s scooter, a skateboard, a wheelchair and a wheelbarrow for their stretch.
Members of both clubs then both enjoyed a fish and chip supper and a social evening at a member’s home to celebrate the safe transfer of the baton ahead of the next leg.
