Moo-vellous cream and milk win national taste awards
A FARM in Bolter End has won what is known as an Oscar of food.
Laceys Family Farm near Lane End won two awards in the prestigious Great Taste Awards 2013.
Their whole milk and double cream were awarded gold stars in what is the world’s largest and most rigorous food award scheme with more than 400 judges and hours of blind tasting.
Farmer Will Lacey said: "We are delighted with the news. We go to great lengths to feed and look after our cows to the highest standards and produce the best possible milks and creams that we can – so to win gold stars for the whole milk and double cream is fantastic, and to be the only milk in the UK and Ireland to win a gold star is the icing – or should it be cream- on the top."
The Lacey family have been milking their herd of pedigree Guernsey cows for seven generations.
They started to retail the milk themselves in 2006 under the brand Laceys Family Farm and since then the business has gone from strength to strength.
There is now a full range of 100 per cent Guernsey milks and creams in various pack sizes and have recently introduced ice creams.
