A FLYOVER by a Spitfire and the last ever Hurricane built was the highlight of the ‘best ever’ Hazlemere Fete.
About 3,000 people descended on Hazlemere Community Centre in Rose Avenue on Bank Holiday Monday for the Battle of Britain fly-past.
The crowd was entertained by local bands Black Rose and Red & Grey, and a dog show – as well as taking in more than 50 stalls, games, competitions and refreshment stands.
David Thompson from the Hazlemere Fete Committee said: “It was very successful and we had more people there than last year.
“The weather was kind to us and the feedback we are getting is very positive – it was possibly the best fete we’ve had.”
Mr Thompson added the charities supported by the fete – Wycombe Homeless Connection and Help for Heroes – would “do well” once the proceeds had been totted up.
