Amersham to host its first Town Show this weekend
TRANSPORT is the theme to the first-ever Amersham Town Show this weekend.
The inaugural show coincides with the 150th anniversary of the Metropolitan railway and the redevelopment of Amersham on the Hill as the town became known as Metroland.
Events will take place in King George V field from 11am-5pm on Sunday, September 8 - the same day as the now-traditional Heritage Day in the Old Town.
Steam train rides on a 1/16th scale model are being provided courtesy of the HS2 Amersham Action Group and there will be plenty to interest petrolheads, with a replica of a Le Mans-winning Jaguar XJR-9 taking pride of place among the exhibits.
The free event also includes a kids' fancy dress competition, bouncy castle and live music throughout the day.
Meanwhile there will be another display of classic cars, vintage vehicles and steam engines in the Old Town for the Heritage Day.
A petting zoo, Punch and Judy show and Morris dancers will provide entertainment, with the day also running from 11am-5pm.
