Flackwell Heath 'school-run' village car park re-opens
A SUPERMARKET car park that shut two months sparking concerns from parents has re-opened today.
The Budgens car park in Flackwell Heath was blocked off in July after the store closed, with worries the loss of the space would cause traffic chaos during the school run to nearby Carrington School.
But the bollards at the entrance have been removed the day before the new term starts, with parents relieved to once again have use of the car park.
Parent Christine Taylor said: “It’s lovely news, it means we have somewhere safe to drop our children off and collect them, as the roads are so busy around the school.
“Hopefully they only blocked off for the summer holidays and it will stay open now.”
Carrington School and Budgens staff previously had an informal agreement over parents being permitted to use the car park during certain periods in the morning and afternoon.
Musgrave Retail Partners, owners of Budgens, have been approached for an explanation, but are yet to confirm the reason for the re-opening
