Wooburn Festival returns for its 47th year
A FEAST of culture begins in Wooburn Green this month as the 47th annual Wooburn Festival gets underway.
An array of art, music, dance and film performances is taking place from September 23 to October 19, with venues across the area hosting everything from opera to live poetry recitals.
Highlights include Purcell’s 'The Fairy Queen' and 'Dido And Aeneas' peformed at the Bourne End Community Centre, Wakeman Road on September 27.
The day after, one of Britain's finest vocalists Tina May duets with pianist Nikki Iles at the Wooburn Club, Wooburn Green for a night of live jazz.
And on October 13, two-time winner of BBC Radio 2’s Folk Singer of the Year Chris Wood takes to the stage at the Wooburn Club for a one-off Folk Supper.
Brian Johnson, festival chairman, said: "Our mission is to continue our enduring contribution to the world of music and the arts. There is something for everybody.
"I hope that during the 47th Wooburn Festival, you will experience both nostalgia and anticipation of the joy we endeavour to bring you."
This year, it is possible to buy tickets online, and bookings can also be taken over the phone.
