Schoolboy mascot rubs shoulders with England stars
A LUCKY schoolboy from Gerrards Cross rubbed shoulders with the stars last week when he got to tread the hallowed Wembley turf alongside England’s football players.
Jamie Gibbs, a year eight pupil at Gayhurst School, was selected to fly the FIFA flag for the Three Lions before their World Cup qualifier against Moldova on Friday.
And after high-fiving the team before kick off, the 12-year-old watched England romp to a 4-0 victory from one of the best seats in the house – less than a metre away from David Beckham.
Jamie said: “It was amazing and so cool. When the music was playing, as the players and mascots ran on the pitch and then the singing of the National Anthems, was just incredible.”
The Chelsea supporter, whose favourite England player is Frank Lampard, is a keen footballer and plays for Chalfont St Peter’s Under 13s.
