Road melting device to be used across Bucks
7:20am Monday 16th September 2013 in News
A ROAD melting device using infra-red heaters is to be used across Buckinghamshire after a successful trial.
Transport bosses said the new technology will save time and money when repairing streets around the county.
Key benefits over the old way of fixing roads include reduced disruption, officials said, - with no need for traditional machinery to remove the damaged road surface, noise pollution and congestion on the highway is kept to a minimum.
The trial showed a saving of 25 per cent approximately compared to re-surfacing in the traditional style.
Janet Blake, Cabinet Member for Planning and Transport said: "It’s always good to see new technology being put to good use on our highways, especially one that produces such good results at the same time as reducing inconvenience to road users."
