Highcrest pupils to take on Three Peaks challenge tomorrow
4:57pm Saturday 14th September 2013 in News
A GROUP of pupils from The Highcrest Academy will walk nine miles tomorrow to raise money for the Rennie Grove Hospice Care charity.
They are appealing to the community to back them by offering sponsorship for their epic trek.
Nine Year 11 students from the High Wycombe school are expected to walk for about four hours when they take part in the Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge.
They will set out from Princes Risborough where they will climb the first peak at Whiteleaf Cross, before walking to Coombe Hill and stopping for a barbecue in Wendover en-route.
The group will then board a bus to Tring station to complete the last four miles to the final peak at Ivinghoe Beacon.
The students will be supervised by staff member Jenny Folkard, who said: "In the run up to the event last term the pupils designed posters to advertise the event around the school, and their own sponsor forms to collect money for the charity. However, they would really appreciate sponsorship from anyone else who can chip in for such a good cause."
All donations and sponsorship money should be sent to The Highcrest Academy accounts department to be added to the students' collections. The academy - based at Hatters Lane, High Wycombe, HP13 7NQ - will then raise a cheque to the charity.
