Beaconsfield bar and restaurant receives sustainability accolade
A BEACONSFIELD bar and restaurant received a coveted accreditation last week after scoring highly in a top sustainability study.
The Beech House on Penn Road has been awarded a One Star Sustainability Rating by The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) after their bar and restaurant were assessed.
The SRA’s award was given to The Beech House after it impressed in regards to sourcing, society and environment – the SRA’s three pillars of sustainability.
‘Very high scores’ were achieved for fair-trade and ethical meat and dairy, good scores were awarded for the restaurant’s waste management, whilst ‘exceptional scores’ were awarded under the society criteria.
Jack Ashmore, Beech House manager, said: "We are delighted that after a rigorous process, The Sustainable Restaurant Association has awarded us a One Star Sustainability Rating.
"We take sustainability very seriously and it is gratifying that the environmental infrastructure policies we put in place when we opened have been recognised.
"We were also highly rated for our commitment to our local community through charity fundraising and support which we are looking forward to continuing in the future."
In recent months, The Beech House hosted a fundraising tea party for Beaconsfield-based charity Greenfingers with staff hoping to continue the partnership.
Peter Borg-Neal, CEO of Oakman Inns & Restaurants, said: "I am very proud of Jack Ashmore and his team at The Beech House who have achieved their first star rating within only four months of opening.
"They have helped to drive – and have now been recognised for - our policies on sustainability and have in a very short time become an active part of the community in which they work. "
