Chesham 'on the radar' of major developers
A CAMPAIGN co-ordinator has said Chesham is 'on the radar' of business groups after successful talks with a brewery group.
Martin Parkes, co founder of the Better Chesham group, said members met with representatives from a brewery chain who were interested in moving in to the town.
In recent weeks approval has been given to build a new pub on Ashley Green Road and fast food chain KFC submitted plans for a drive through restaurant in the town, although these were later withdrawn.
Speaking at Monday night's meeting of Chesham Town Council, Mr Parkes said: "The fact Marston's and Kentucky Fried Chicken expressed interest in coming here shows we are on the radar.
"They see it as a key place to do business. If we can bring investment like that, it bodes well."
Mr Parkes did not reveal the identity of the company Better Chesham had been in talks with at the meeting, but added: "They saw areas they would like to redevelop - they don't do redevelopment work themselves, they would want a local landlord to do the work.
"If they found one, they were quite prepared to sign a lease there and then."
