2:45pm Wednesday 18th September 2013 in News
BREAK ins at five golf clubs, during which thieves have stolen trophies worth thousands of pounds, have prompted a warning from police.
Farnham Park Golf Club, in Park Road, Stoke Poges, is the only one in South Bucks reported to have been targeted so far.
The burglary there happened between 8.40pm and 11.23pm on September 3.
The latest theft happened at around 1.30am on Monday at Berkshire Golf Club in Swinley Road, Ascot.
Others occurred in Reading, Newbury and Datchet recently.
Investigating officer Det Sgt Iain Kane said: "Our advice to golf clubs across the area would be to remove high value trophies from display cabinets and ensure they are safely secured.
"We have had a number of break-ins across the Thames Valley area with thieves targeting trophies for their metal content.
"If you were in any of the areas where these break-ins have happened and saw any suspicious people or vehicles, then please come forward as you may have important information for our inquiry."
Anyone with information who has not yet come forward is asked to contact Det Sgt Kane on the non-emergency number 101.
