'High Heavens doesn't stink now and should be re-named'
HIGH Heavens rubbish dump should get a new name, a Liberal Democrat has proposed, because it no longer deserves to be linked with a stink.
The Booker based centre for waste and recycling should be re-branded, Cllr Julia Wassell told a public meeting.
Speaking at Bucks County Council on Thursday, she said: "Quite seriously is it time now to have a name change for High Heavens?
"It has been stuck with that name for years and I'm sure at one time it deserved to be referred to as High Heavens and all the jokes that were made about it but it's functioning so well now.
"It's a good public service which could be rebranded I feel."
Cllr Lesley Clarke, the cabinet member responsible for High Heavens, in Clay Lane, Great Marlow, said: "High Heavens has always been known as High Heavens. It's unfortunate that we use that as smelling to High Heavens.
"It was the name of the farm that was there that's been there many years and yes, like a lot of us, I think we all think that's the reason it's called that.
"I don't know whether local people would like to change it but I really don't know how to respond to that sort of question."
She joked: "It's a Julia Wassell question."
High Heavens is operated by the county council.
Should the site be renamed as suggested?
What would you like to see it being called instead?
