Britain's Got Talent finalist aids successful Marlow Carnival
2:00pm Saturday 28th September 2013 in News
HIGGINSON Park was buzzing with music and activities for one of the town's biggest annual occasions.
Various entertainment acts took to the stage at Marlow Carnival last Saturday, including former Britain's Got Talent finalist Lauren Thalia.
Organisers from the Marlow Community Association said the day was a success, with about 1,000 attending.
Peter Donegan, spokesman for the carnival, said: "Saturday went well with a steady flow. It was the busiest we have ever been with stalls. There were great performances from all on stage and the adventure boot camp was well attended by those eager to compete.
"The Lancaster Burnham Landrovers silent auction donation of the use of Car for a weekend caused great interest together with a host of other donations, while the bar and barbecue were all very busy. "Special thanks goes to all our volunteers who make this happen and thanks for the great support from the local community."
Among other activities on the day were wheelchair based slaloms and basketball shooting put on by charity WheelPower in conjunction with Rotary Clubs of Marlow and Marlow Thames.
Organisers of Marlow Music Festival, which had a stall on the day, have called for musicians of all ages and standards to get involved in the fortnight long November event.
It will take place in the Shelley Theatre, Court Garden, and All Saints Church, from November 2 to 15. Entries need to be in by October 1.
