Suspected distraction burglary in Gerrards Cross
A HOMEOWNER from Gerrards Cross is believed to have been the target of a distraction burglary by a man claiming to work for an energy company.
Nothing was taken during the incident but the homeowner became suspicious of the man, who entered their house in Daleside after knocking on the door and saying he was from npower.
No ID was asked for as the homeowner initially believed the call was genuine.
Late in the morning of Friday, September 27 the suspect said he needed to look inside the loft of the property. The occupant took him up the stairs and opened the hatch using a pole with a hook on the end, before the suspect went upstairs whilst the homeowner sat at the foot of the stairs on a chair.
The suspect then came down the ladder and left the property taking the access pole with him.
Police have today appealed for witnesses to the incident to come forward and have issued a description of the man.
He is described as a white man 5ft9ins to 5ft10ins tall, of a medium build and with fair hair. He is in his late twenties, was clean shaven and wearing a cream coloured suit and tie with a light coloured shirt. He carried a small yellow bag.
He was seen in a yellow coloured saloon car.
