Trains return between Aylesbury and Chinnor this weekend
THE Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway will be running regular services from Aylesbury and Princes Risborough to Chinnor for the first time in 57 years, this weekend.
The volunteer operated railway has teamed up with Chiltern Railways and Network Rail to join up the two tracks just outside Princes Risborough and built a new platform there.
These services will allow visitors to travel by train to Chinnor to celebrate the 60th birthday of its resident locomotive named Haversham .
Tomorrow (Saturday) visitors will be able to travel on regular Chiltern Railways services to Princes Risborough and hop on one of the Chinnor Railways trains to travel all the way down the line to Chinnor.
The extra service tomorrow will be operated by a Chiltern ‘Turbo’ No. 165001.
Haversham will be joined by the two current Royal Train Wolverton based locomotives to create a unique Royal Train trio at Chinnor.
On Sunday it is Senior Citizens’ Day with half-price tickets for senior citizens. There will be a wide variety of diesel, steam and electric rolling stock on display and giving rides.
