RESIDENTS with homes at risk of flooding can learn how to protect their property at a Flood Fair being held at Chesham Town Hall next week.

Experts from Chiltern District Council, Bucks County Council, the Environment Agency, FloodSmart and the Met Office will be on hand with helpful tips and advice. There will also be a demonstration of the modern equivalent of sandbags in the Water Meadow car park at 1.30pm.

The event is being organised by Chiltern District Council, whose Cabinet Member for Emergency Planning, Isobel  Darby, said: "Flooding is a distressing and traumatic experience for anyone, but there’s a great deal people can do to protect their property.

"The whole point of this event is to highlight the proactive measures people can take. With winter on its way, I urge residents to come along to find out more. "

The event takes place from 12-3pm on Wednesday, October 9.
