Time running out to voice views on South Bucks council downsize
VOTERS in South Bucks need to be quick to give their view about major council changes as the consultation period comes to an end.
Residents are being asked about a plan to downsize South Bucks District Council from 40 elected members to 28.
This came after a council report admitted finding a meaningful role for every member to be ‘problematic’.
Councillors submitted the plan to The Boundary Commission in August, with the authority responsible for local government changes consulting on the plans until next week.
Max Caller, chair of the Commission, said: “This consultation is the first, but very important, part of our electoral review of South Bucks District Council. It is your chance to have your say on how the district is run.
“We want to make sure South Bucks has the right number of councillors to be able to take decisions on behalf of residents in an effective way as well as being able to represent the interests of all local communities.
“This is your chance to shape your council for the future.”
If the decision to shrink the council goes ahead, the boundaries will be re-drawn and a further consultation carried out.
